چکیده

YSTEMIC venous anomalies, such as persistent left superior vena cava and absent inferior vena cava, are not so rare in various congenital heart diseases.1) Preoperative identification of these anomalous systemic venous connections is clinically important, because their presence necessitates modified technique for venous cannulation of cardiopulmonary bypass. In cases of persistent left superior vena cava, usually entering the right atrium via the coronary sinus, coronary sinus rhythm was occasionally shown in routine electrocardiograms, resulting from persistent pacemaker of the left horn of the sinus venosus.2) In addition, typical coronary sinus rhythm was frequently found in patients with absent inferior vena cava in our experience. The detailed description of these observations is the purpose of this report.

Prevalence and pattern of total and partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection in Indian patients with congenital heart disease

Background Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC) is a rare form of congenital heart disease (CHD) in which all pulmonary veins connect to the systemic veins, right atrium or the coronary sinus. Echocardiography is a good screening modality in picking up majority of these cases. Cross sectional imaging is often utilized to establish the anatomy and confirm the diagnoses. In this st...

Anomalous connection of the left hepatic vein to coronary sinus in a child with PAPVD. Surgical significance and diagnostic difficulties

Left hepatic vein (LHV) that drains blood into a coronary sinus (CS) is an extremely rare congenital anomaly of systemic vein drainage with only single reports published. In most of these cases the unusual venous connection was found incidentally during diagnostics or surgery. The case of a two-year-old boy in whom the anomaly was discovered during open heart surgery for partial anomalous pulmo...

Midterm results after surgical correction of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection

Abstract   Objective: To evaluate the surgical treatment of total anomalous pulmonary venous   connection (TAPVC) and determination of predictors for postoperative death.   Methods: Between 1995 and 2005, 80 patients aged from 1 month to 12 years underwent surgical repair for supracardiac (39), cardiac (34), infracardiac (3) or mixed (4) type of TAPVC. Systemic pulmonary hypertension (PH) in ...

Coronary Sinus Atrial Septal Defect (Unroofed Coronary Sinus) with Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection—A Case Report

Introduction: To present a rare occurrence of coronary sinus atrial septal defect (ASD) associated with total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC). Case Report: A 16-year-old girl was diagnosed with features of an atrial septal defect (ASD) by transthoracic echocardiography and the absence of PLSVC (persistent left superior vena cava) connection to coronary sinus was confirmed by salin...

Venous anomalies of the coronary sinus: detection by M-mode, two-dimensional and contrast echocardiography.

The echocardiographic features of the enlarged coronary sinus are described in eight patients with a left superior vena cava draining to the coronary sinus and two patients with total anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the coronary sinus. The diagnosis was confirmed in each patient by cardiac catheterization and surgery. On the M-mode echocardiogram, a dense echo was present posterior to ...
